At Gleneagle Conferences & Events, we recognize the importance of environmental stewardship and the impact of our daily practices. We are committed to sustainable and eco-friendly operations, complying with local regulations while continuously striving to reduce our carbon footprint. Our dedication to sustainability encompasses various areas, from waste management to energy conservation, all of which contribute to creating a greener future.

Recycling & Waste Management

Food Waste Composting: We compost all our waste food through an efficient system that turns biodegradable waste into peat-free, environmentally friendly compost.
Glass & Cardboard Recycling: All glass and cardboard materials are carefully recycled to minimize landfill waste.
Tobacco-Free: We have stopped selling tobacco products to further promote a healthier and more sustainable environment.
Killarney Coffee Cup Project: We are proud members of the Killarney Coffee Cup Project, which encourages the use of reusable cups and reduces single-use waste.
Electric Vehicle Charging Stations: We have installed five electric car charging points on-site to promote the use of eco-friendly vehicles.

Energy Efficiency & Conservation

Energy-Saving Solutions: We’ve implemented timing and motion sensors in low-occupancy areas to minimize energy waste.
External Lighting & Heating: Both our external lighting and heating systems are strategically timed to reduce unnecessary energy consumption.
Eco-Friendly Equipment: When replacing equipment, we choose A-rated options to ensure minimal environmental impact.
Promoting Public Transport: We encourage guests and employees to use public transport and offer a shuttle bus service to reduce carbon emissions.
Supporting Cycling & Running: We promote walking and cycling through initiatives like sponsoring the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle and Run Killarney.

Sustainable Sourcing & Materials

Environmental Purchasing Policy: We purchase in bulk to reduce excess packaging and prioritize eco-friendly and local suppliers who share our commitment to sustainability.
Eco-Friendly Chemicals: We use non-hazardous, biodegradable chemicals that are both user-friendly and eco-conscious.
Digital Communication: To reduce paper waste, we promote the use of e-zines, email, and other digital forms of communication among guests and employees. We have added a number of digital screens around the hotel to assist in reducing paper waste.

Gleneagle Arena was proud to become the first event venue in Ireland certified to the ISO 20121 standard. This accreditation highlights our commitment to delivering exceptional events while minimizing their impact on the planet. We work closely with our clients, suppliers, and guests to achieve sustainability goals collectively.
